Top 5 Restaurants you need to try in Bristol and surrounding areas!

When we brainstormed this blog the first thought that came to mind was let’s write about the ‘healthiest’ restaurants we would recommend.

If you know us or have worked with us then you’ll think how would you define a restaurant as ‘healthy’ or not. And you’re quite right, we don’t like to put labels on foods as good or bad, or healthy/unhealthy.

Food is fuel that everyone needs and with an understanding of nutrition you can enjoy all foods as part of a balanced diet.

So with that in mind, let’s jump in…

We’ve been to many amazing bars, cafes and restaurants around the South West and it was difficult to pick just 5, but these really are some of our favourites!

In no particular order, here we go:

Bella Vista

I say no particular order but Bella Vista has to be one of our all time favourites, I’ve lost count of the number of date nights we’ve had there. We even dragged the family along last time!

With a beautiful setting next to the river looking out to Castle Park, Bella Vista is the perfect place to relax and enjoy their unique Italian dining experience. They have a good sized menu of traditional Italian recipes, all prepared with fresh ingredients.

We always start by sharing their amazing bruschetta board!

The Pig near Bath

Where to start with The Pig, near Bath. It’s not just about the stunning menu, The Pig is nestled in the beautiful countryside just outside of Bristol between Chew Valley and Bath. The building itself is beautiful and historic, you can explore their Somerset Kitchen Garden complete with a Smokehouse, wildflower orchard, fruit cages, a greenhouse, buzzy bee hives and a herd of deer!

They have a simple philosophy; They only use produce that they can grow or rear themselves or can source from within 25-miles! The back of the menu shows you a map of where the produce comes from.

To summarize, if you want delicious country food, in a laid back, stunning location then we’d highly recommend going to The Pig.

Mugshot/The Library

Mugshot is Bristol’s number 1 steak stonehouse, the unique venue is inspired by the 1920s era with shimmering chandeliers and parquet flooring!

Mugshot offers the most succulent steaks, delicious pizzas and amazing cocktails in Bristol, it’s no surprise that it’s made our top 5.

The other reason we love Mugshot is for their exclusive and secret cocktail lounge, The Library, ideal for some pre/post dinner cocktails or just a nice drink with friends.

The Botanist, Bath

“IT STARTED WITH A SEED, an idea to create a secret garden of food and drink…”

You may be recognising a trend here, good food, tasty cocktails and unique beautiful venues?

That’s what we like and The Botanist in bath is another favorite for us!

A slightly different style of menu with hanging kebabs, brunch & botanical cocktails, the Botanist is another we highly recommend for any special occasion.

Address: THE OCTAGON (NO 25 Part 46A Milsom Place & 28, Milsom St, Bath BA1 1BZ

The Railway Inn, Sandford

The final must visit is one of our favorite country pubs, The Thatchers Cider’s 140 year old pub, The Railway Inn!

It’s a beautifully restored traditional country pub with expertly crafted food and of course all of the Thatchers cider you could ever want.

We like to visit for a Sunday lunch, particularly on a cosy winter day and the best thing is you can even bring the dog!

Address: Station Rd, Sandford, Winscombe BS25 5RA
